Spies in History & Literature ~
In Loving Memory of My
Friend, Harvey Chertok
By Wesley Britton
Dr. Wes Britton, Maurice Cohen, and Impossible Spy
producer Harvey Chertok.
Back in 2006, I had the great pleasure of meeting film producer
Harvey Chertok and his wife Bobbi when we screened his docu-drama,
The Impossible Spy, at the International Spy Museum. The
ISM had invited Harvey to screen TIS to accompany my
presentation on my second book, Beyond Bond: Spies in Film and
Fiction. A long, long friendship was born that night which lasted
until, well, this weekend when I got the news that the energetic and
ever-positive and youthful Harvey has left us.
Here’s a link to an article I wrote based on interviews with
Harvey about Israeli spy, Eli Cohen, the subject of TIS:

Spy
In 2006, Harvey, Bobbi, and I along with a few others met Eli
Cohen’s younger brother Maurice Cohen to work on a projected
book on the spycraft of both Cohen brothers. Here’s a link to an
article I wrote about that meeting, which includes photos of Harvey and
Bobbi:

Then, in October 2007, Harvey invited me to attend a showing of
The Impossible Spy in Scranton, Pennsylvania, where I had
the opportunity to meet and interview the legendary Eli Wallach. The
event was noted for posterity at Cinema Retro.com:

Shalom, Old Friend. Yes, there’s always time for coffee ~
